First there was the CILS and the CELI. Now there's another Italian acronym to memorize if you're a test-taker. The CLIQ (certificazione lingua italiana di qualità), a major new initiative recently announced by the Ministero degli Affari Esteri, is designed to align with technical standards established by the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. The marchio di qualità (mark of quality) is meant to be clearly identifiable to foreigners wishing to study Italian abroad.
