Forming Feminine Nouns in Italian

By January 21, 2013

Most Italian masculine nouns that refer to persons or animals have a corresponding female form that differs only in the ending. Feminine nouns in Italian are formed by subsituting the masculine endings with the appropriate final vowel or suffix. For example, the feminine of masculine nouns that end in -o are usually formed by replacing the final vowel with an -a.
