G8 Summit in L'Aquila

The G8 summit, in the city of L'Aquila, Abruzzo, is taking place from July 8-10, 2009. It was moved from the Sardinian seaside resort of La Maddalena as part of an attempt to redistribute disaster funds after L'Aquila was struck by a devastating earthquake in April 2009.

The main issues that the world's eight leading countries will be addressing are: La crisi economica internazionale e le crisi regionali (The international economic crisis and regional crises), la sicurezza alimentare (food safety and security), la lotta ai cambiamenti climatici (the struggle against climate changes), and la liberalizzazione del commercio mondiale (the deregulation of world trade).
