Opera Lirica 2005

Monday March 7, 2005
Think you might be the next Pavarotti? The Centro di Cultura Italiana Casentino has a series of Italian language courses on lyrical opera this year. The school is based in Poppi, the historic capital of an ancient region of Tuscany called the Casentino.

Students will study of the libretti of the various operas and listen to some of the noted arias. The classes are for those who already have a good knowledge of the Italian language and who want to improve their understanding of lyrical opera. Scheduled courses include such topics as: The Origins of the Opera; Puccini’s Heroines; Verdi’s Characters; and The 'Italian' Mozart. Get ready to belt out high C and sing to the rafters!
