Dante Wins The Gold

According to the Agenzia Giornalistica Italia, the "most studied works of Italian literature in the world are Dante's Commedia and the Canti by Leopardi." The "General Bibliography of Italian Literature and Language" ranked all the works published on Italian writers in the year 2000. Rounding out the top 5 were Giovanni Boccaccio, Alessandro Manzoni, and Francesco Petrarca.
