Verbi Procomplessi
Wednesday August 4, 2004
From the Yahoo! Italian Groups comes this terrific post on verbi procomplessi, verbal forms that, when broken down, yield no workable clue as to their true meaning. An example is the verb farcela (fare - ce - la). "Posso farcela" means "I can do it" or "I can manage this situation".
Other similar verbi procomplessi include avercela, cavarsela, sentirsela, prendersela, volerci, and metterci. If you can conjugate the verb fare, then conjugating the verb farcela should be easy.
