Carnevale Costume Characters

From a message in the Yahoo! Groups Italian: "Carnevale is celebrated all around Italy, and along the centuries some typical Carnival characters have been created. Most of them are older than 4 centuries."

Many Carnevale costumes originated from the Commedia dell'Arte and are associated with a particular Italian town or region.

Arlecchino—Bergamo
Balanzone—Bologna
Brighella—Brescia or Bergamo
Colombina—Venezia
Gianduja—Torino
Pantalone—Veneto
Pulcinella—Campania
Scaramuccia—Napoli
Spaventa—Ligura
Stenterello—Tuscana
Rugantino—Lazio
Tartaglia—Napoli
