Italian Teaching Internships

Language Stars, a rapidly growing Chicago-based educational organization that immerses young American children in foreign language, is seeking native teaching interns for their Italian academic-year and summer programs. Their unique FunImmersionTM method "offers an effective and enjoyable way for children to learn a second language through engaging activities such as games, songs, arts & crafts, treasure hunts and relay races."

Language Stars offer a variety of language immersion programs year-round, including Parents & Tots (ages 1-3), Kids Only (ages 3-5, 5-8 and 8-10) and Summer Camp programs.

Qualifications
  • Native Italian speaker
  • Energy, enthusiasm, and dynamic presence with young children
  • Shared passion for Language Stars’ mission of immersing young children in Italian (and other languages)
  • Extensive experience with children preferred, particularly teaching experience

    Selection Process

  • Language Stars will conduct 1-2 phone screens.
  • Offers will be extended in June and July to 1-3 Teaching Interns

    Italian Teaching Intern Program Description
  • Internship Dates: September 2, 2003 – August 25, 2004
  • Experience Language Stars’ FunImmersion teaching training program!
  • Teach Italian 20 hours per week to children ages 1-10! Run structured activities supported by materials, session plans & training provided by Language Stars
  • Live with a local American host family
  • Coverage of costs of 2 university classes
  • $30 per week stipend
  • Reimbursement of travel expenses to and from Italy
  • Full payment of Amity fees
  • Coverage of health, evacuation & repatriation insurance
